Cognitive tests

Cognitive tests are done by giving small tasks that the person being tested is expected to complete. An example of this would be remembering word lists to evaluate working memory. Another would be mental processing speed being assessed by drawing lines between letters and numbers in ascending order.

Patients undergo different tests depending on the issue being assessed, such as stress, dementia, or post-COVID. The cognitive functions affected by the condition are tested. As such, the tests reveal any cognitive impairments.

Mindmore's digital cognitive test with automated scoring provides objective information about cognitive impairment.

Benefits for healthcare and patients

In certain diseases, cognitive testing is a requirement to make a diagnosis (e.g., cognitive disorders/dementia). However, in many cases, it is our only tool to visualize how the brain functions in conditions such as stress, exhaustion, depression, or pain. For healthcare, it is important to understand what cognitive difficulties a patient is experiencing in order to implement the right measures, and Mindmore contributes with exactly that insight.

Does the patient need help structuring their daily life, memory support, or information in a specific way? Knowing this allows interventions that help the patient manage daily life and return to work to be correctly implemented.

Cognitive problems are not visible on the outside. It is also difficult for the patient to articulate them, and self-assessment questionnaires only capture symptoms of perceived difficulties.

Cognitive testing is a missing piece of the puzzle in healthcare, not only for a patient to feel understood, but also to get an accurate assessment of their difficulties and improve the precision of interventions. Small interventions can have a significant impact when the patient receives the right intervention, support with strategies, and patient-centered care at an early stage of the condition.

The value for healthcare professionals

  • Free up time for rehabilitation and treatment, by reducing time for assessment and investigation.

  • Facilitates assessment of which patients have the greatest need for care, as the tests can be led by other than, for example, licensed psychologists. This enables an overview of more patients' cognitive status early in the care contact, which can shorten waiting times.

  • Objective examination findings can facilitate communication with the patient, between different care providers and with external parties such as development assistance officers and the patient's relatives.

  • Simplifies processes around mental illness, such as following up and evaluating treatment effects.

You can conduct testing in a safe and reliable way

Through several grading scales in the software, it is possible to gather other necessary information which could affect the patients wellbeing and testsituation

You should be able to interpret and work with the cognitive results that Mindmore generates after the patient has conducted a test. Short digitial education courses and follow meetings are included in the software to ensure you feel confident in your abilities to give your patient safe evaluation and care.
